MAN-Many Glacier
FIF-Fifty Mountain
Alternate Route (This alternate route and the one to the south cross some private property, but the road might be a public right-of-way... not sure.)
CDT Alternates (These routes are slightly shorter and go by a little more water. But, there is water along the CDT as well.)
Dana Spring (An important water source along the CDT)
Alternate Route (This CDT alternate goes by water)
Benchmark (Benchmark Wiilderness Ranch)
Ford (There's a waist-deep double-ford here, but the current is low, so it's not too difficult.)
No road (Google Earth shows a road here, but it doesn't exist on the ground)
Cross country (South of here back to the main CDT route, it's mostly cross country. The final bit can be especially difficult through forest.)
CDT trailhead (There's a CDT trailhead here, but unless you're starting here, no reason to pass through it.)
Highline Trail (You can hike this section of the Highline Trail if you're in a hurry, but it by-passes Many Glacier, and the amazing switchbacks up to Swiftcurrent Pass.)
Mt. Morgan (I highly recommend this route if it is somewhat snow-free. Too early in the season, and there can be some steep icy/snowy slopes, but the views are amazing!)
Stoney Indian Pass (This alternate allows you to start right at the border (Chief Mountain), without crossing into Canada - making the logistics a little easier, and you still link-up with the main route & highline trail.)
Ahern Drift (Snow sluffs-off from the cliffs above, and creates a steep pitch of ice here. Early in the season, you'll want an ice axe for this bit. Later in the season, the park service shovels-out a path.)
Ptarmigan Tunnel (In early season, this may be snowed-in and impassable.)
Iceberg Lake (If you head this way, check out Iceberg Lake, a worthwhile out-and-back side trip.)
Chief Mountain (Trailhead is just south of the border crossing on Hwy 6)
