Memorial day 2018 - It rained all day - Full rich waterfalls and pentiful bubbling creeks. We even got spooked by a Coyote. Lots of pink Mountain Laurel on rim, and well maintained. About 5 creek crossings along the way. Wear gaiters or pants - lots of briars/poison ivy in some sections. We parked at end of FS 340A, by the gate - gradual ascent up Philips Trail for 5 miles to Will King Gap, turn East on Rim Trail for 2.7 miles back South at Big Stamp Gap- it's rather steep on House Rock for 2.3 miles before arriving at starting point again. Allow 4:15 hours of hikeing time, with a very brief 10-15 minute stop at the top. This averages about 2.5 miles/hour. Enjoy!
