Lassen Rim Reconnoiter - 6/14/2026 to 06/ 24th - 25th /2026 General Overview This is the hike itinerary of hiker Joey Nelson for the Western Lassen slope and Lassen Park area, "Lassen Rim Reconnoiter". Day 1 hike start is on 06/14/2026 from 30976 Bambi Drive, Shingeltown, Ca 96088 westward approximately 12 miles along the Emigrant Trail with first camp at Lake McCumber. Day 2 continues along the Emigrant Trail with ingress to Lassen Park at the Manzanita Creek Trail in Lassen Park west of back country zone 6 approximately 12.3 miles. Second camp concludes at the end of Manzanita Creek Trail in zone 6 at 7,100 feet. Day 3 continues south eastward between Mt. Lassen & Loomis Peak, past Vulcans Castle to Ski Heil Peak. Bearing south west the trail follows ridge line to Pilot Pinnacle, then bears south and westt to camp at 8,200 feet in the south eastern edge of Blue Lake Canyon, zone 4. Day 4 continues east back up to the ridge between Pilot Pinnacle & Mt. Diller then bears west gaining ridge line to Mt. Diller, eastward back to the ridge line saddle, then bears south and west, descending the southern slope of Mt. Diller to its south western ridge line. The trail then continues south along this ridge line toward Brokeoff Mt. finally descending west to camp at Heart Lake, just outside zone 3, Ridge Lakes. Day 5 is a zero day at Heart Lake. Day 6 continues south, up slope to the western ridge line of Brokeoff Mt. then gains elevation south east to the Brokeoff Mt. Trail & peak. From here the trail follows the Brokeoff Mt. trail down to Highway 89 and on up to the Mill Creek Falls Trail Head at Kohm Yah-mah-nee VC. Following the Mill Creek Trail toward Crumbaugh Lake, to camp near the eastern edge of zone 2, Conrad Mt. at 6,800 feet. Day 7 continues on the Mill Creek Trail passed Crumbaugh Lake and up to Highway 89 then onward to up 89 to the Terrace Lake-Park Trailhead and northward along the Paradise Meadows Trail to camp in zone 8, 0.5 miles north of Shadow Lake at 7,600 feet. Day 8 is a second zero day in Paradise Meadows Day 9 continues as the trail egress from Lassen Park begins off the PCT in back country zone 8, Hat Creek, then out north-west toward Lost Creek along Forest Route 32N14, crossing Highway 89 north of Eskimo Hill to Road 32N49 / Bridge Creek Road, camping north of Red Lake Mt. on Bridge Creek Road. Day 10 continues westward on Bridge Creek Road to the junction of Deer Flat Road and the Emigrant Trail then heads west to Lake McCumber for the last night of camping. Day 11 continues westward on the Emigrant Trail toward home at 30976 Bambi Drive, Shingletown, Ca 96088.
