+ Get there early! There are 5 miles above treeline, nowhere to run if it gets stormy
+ Check time, weather before heading up the pass
+ No food on the way - bring lunch for car after
+ After 8 you can take the shuttle, but that's probably too late
+ Trail pretty muddy on July 4 - bring a bag for shoes
+ Need about 3 liters water in hot weather
+ Poles are helpful. You can stow them at King Lake. It's all downhill from there.
